Bookshare – An accessible on-line library, Bookshare opens up the world of reading for people with print disabilities. If someone cannot read traditional print books because of visual impairment, physical disability or severe learning disability, Bookshare can help!

Community for Accredited Online Schools – Provides vocational career options, resources, scholarships and financial aid and transitioning/ongoing support options for individuals with physical disabilities, learning and cognitive disabilities, visual impairments, and hearing impairments. This site promotes thriving in a trade school with a disability and also provides adaptive tools to succeed on the vocational path.

Disability is Natural – The mission is to encourage new ways of thinking about developmental disabilities, in the belief that our attitudes drive our actions, and changes in our attitudes and actions can help create a society where all children and adults with developmental disabilities have opportunities to live the lives of their dreams, included in all areas of life. There are hundreds of articles to read, download and share.

Family Caregiver Alliance National Center on Caregiving – Supports and sustains the important work of families nationwide caring for adult loved ones with chronic, disabling health conditions. Including caregiving issues and strategies, classes/events, support groups, and the Family Caregiver Support Program (FCSP), which offers some supplemental services, such as transportation and home modifications.

Partnership on Employment and Accessible Technology – PEAT promotes accessible technology and universally designed technology as a tool for creating a productive and inclusive workforce. They aim to help people come together and make technology more accessible for all employees.

People First – Promotes self-advocacy and provides access to groups of people with learning difficulties, people with intellectual disabilities, people with developmental disabilities and/or people with disabilities who speak up for themselves and work to improve the lives of their members.

Recovery Village Drug & Alcohol Resources for Caregivers. Being a caregiver is one of the most selfless roles anyone can fulfill. In many cases, it means putting someone else’s needs above your own, sacrificing your time and peace of mind, and finding higher levels of patience and understanding. It can create a sense of purpose, but it can also be very taxing and physically burdensome. Whether the role consists of providing care for a cancer patient or an ill, disabled or elderly person, the demands can drive many caregivers to use and abuse substances to cope.
